The Dr Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarships celebrates his commitment to education and his endeavours to support outstanding students to develop as future leaders.

 

Background

Dr Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. A distinguished scientist and aeronautical engineer by training, the Dr Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship celebrates his commitment to education and his endeavours to support outstanding students to develop as future leaders.

 

Selection criteria

Applicants will be assessed on their academic merit.

  • Applicants must complete an online scholarship application and include their official tertiary transcripts/results by the Scholarship closing

Ongoing eligibility

  • The recipient must also maintain satisfactory academic performance deemed to be a credit average (65%) or above each semester and they must also remain enrolled as a full-time international student and must maintain their international student status for the full duration of their

 

Payment schedule

–    The Scholarship is tenable for a period of one year and payments shall be made in equal instalments after the census date of each semester, or processed as a fee 50% payment.

Dr Abdul Kalam International Postgraduate Scholarship Terms and Conditions

 

1.        Background

  1. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. During his five years in office, Dr Abdul Kalam’s focus was on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020. A distinguished scientist and aeronautical engineer by training, Dr Kalam advocated that it is possible to work cooperatively for an economically developed, prosperous and peaceful
  2. In recognition of his contribution to his profession, Dr Kalam was presented with an Honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2011. 2.        Eligibility

 

  1. The Scholarship is open to international students who have a full/unconditional offer of admission for a Masters by coursework program in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the time of the submission of their Scholarship application and subsequently enrol in one of those
  2. Applicants must also have achieved a distinction average (75%) or above in their undergraduate studies to apply.
  3. Students who have already commenced their postgraduate studies in the Faculty, or students transferring from another postgraduate program are not

 

3.        Awarding of the Scholarship

  1. The Scholarship will be awarded based on academic merit in accordance with Term b.
  2. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Faculty Associate Dean (Education) or their

 

 

4.        Tenure

  1. The Scholarship is tenable for one year only and subject to satisfactory academic progress deemed to be a credit average and above (65%) and above each
  2. The recipient of the Scholarship is also required to enrol as a full-time international student and must maintain their international student status for the full duration of their
  3. Deferment of the Scholarship is not
  4. The scholarship is tenable at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney and is not transferable to another faculty or

 

5.        Value and Payment

  1. The value of the scholarship is 50% of the tuition fees for a maximum of one
  2. Payment will be made in equal instalments after the Census date of each semester, or processed as a 50% fee
  3. The recipient will be required to pay for all relocation expenses to Sydney including airfares, Overseas Health Cover as well as purchase of study material and text
  4. The Scholarship shall be awarded subjaect to the availability of

 

 

6.        Termination of Scholarship

  1. The scholarship will be terminated on the following grounds:

 

  1. the recipient withdraws from their degree program,
  2. if the recipient changes their program (i.e. course, major or stream) in their first year of study without the prior approval of the Associate Dean (Education),
  • the recipient commences part-time study without the prior consent of the Associate Dean (Education),
  1. the recipient does not maintain satisfactory academic performance as defined in Term 4.a, and
  2. the recipient receives and accepts another primary University of Sydney Scholarship or Faculty Scholarship during the duration of this

 

  1. In the event that the recipient discontinues their course any money paid to the student during that academic year may be requested to be repaid to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies. This is subject to the Associate Dean (Education)’s
  2. The recipient will not pursue a course of studies at any institution other than the University of Sydney during the course of the
  3. The recipient may be entitled to a suspension during the Scholarship program in the event of extenuating circumstances subject to the discretion of the Associate Dean (Education).
