South Korean ambassador to Libya says Korean firms to return after security assurances

The deputy head of the Presidential Council (PC), Ahmed Mitig, discussed with the South Korean ambassador to Libya the possible steps that can lead to allowing S.Korean companies back to work in Libya to finish the contracted projects.

The two officials also discussed the reopening of the S.Korean embassy in Tripoli in the coming months.

PC's media office reported that they also reviewed the possible resumption of power plant projects, plus tasking a team from the companies to make reports on possibility to resume projects this summer.

"Once the security assurances are given and the safe environment is found for the resumption of projects, our companies will come back. We are looking forward to expand the scope of work to include housing and schools among other things." The S.Korean ambassador said, pointing out to the training programs his country is doing in accordance with Libya Labor Ministry.

Mitig told the ambassador that Libya wants to make use of the S.Korean expertise in different technological areas, such as banking, customs, medical supplies and other fields.

The ambassador  project along with technicians from Huyndai company, which is operating the project, while Daewoo delegation visited as well Zueitina power plant site to pave the way for the resumption of work.
