Waterloo Global University (WGU, based in Tripoli), the first English Speaking Educational Hub in Libya, is pleased to announce the launch of the “Call of Application” for its Member Scientific Council.


Waterloo Global University will operate as a Corporate Learning, Continuing Education and Training institution by the name of Waterloo Global University for Education & Training Services. The university is committed to ensuring excellence across a wide range of disciplines, training and continuing education, across its three colleges, namely, Graduate School of Business & Economics, Graduate School of Engineering & Technology, Graduate School of Arts & Humanities.

Position Description:

The Board of Directors at Waterloo Global University is engaged in a search for scholars to fill a tenured Scientific Council, whose main responsibility is to formulate & guarantee sound academic policies and regulations and reviewing the submitted abstracts and selecting those abstracts which fulfill the scientific standards set by: The Board of Directors.
The appointment is expected to begin on 10/22/2017.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and coordinate University policies and Student & Faculty handbooks.
• Design of the university academic structure including colleges and advisory bodies.
• Identify the functions and responsibilities of the advisory bodies.
• Design, coordinate, implement policies and laws governing the academic structure and the changes that occur to it: The introduction of a new academic program - Approval of the new academic programs - Cancellation of existing academic programs - Amendments in existing programs - Opening of departments, colleges, centers and institutes.
• Design and preparation of academic programs that correspond to the mission of the university and its objectives (intellectual development - self-learning – interactive teaching methods); the programs have to be clear & declared goals and meet at the same time the needs of the community and the labor market.
• Reviews and oversees the General Colleges (Graduate School of Business & Economics, Graduate School of Engineering & Technology, Graduate School of Arts & Humanities) Curriculum in all its aspects.
• Oversees all policy and procedural aspects of faculty arrangements & appointments, collects and analyzes data pertaining to the colleges (Graduate School of Business & Economics, Graduate School of Engineering & Technology, Graduate School of Arts & Humanities) and developing a plan for the faculty member university needs.
• Explore ways with respect to faculty development and research needs within the University, to deepen the culture of the intellectual university community.
• Assists in developing and maintaining the long-range master facilities plan of the University.
• Assists in the ongoing acclimation and nurture of Students on our campus through the planning of special events and activities.
• Reviews methods of evaluation to improve the University’s assessment methods & processes for quality control and professional development of the faculty: establishes, and reviews policies and procedures designed to promote institutional data accuracy and consistency, both in data collection and data reporting.

Duties are shared between members depending on the work in progress. The member has to inform the Chair and the other members of the SC about the progress of the work on a regular basis. The member must meet deadlines or inform previously of difficulties to meet them.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate or Master in IT, Architecture, English Literature, Business Administration or related discipline. The candidate has to be a team player and must be able to communicate well in English both written and oral.
Having knowledge in scientific work is recommended (e.g. participating in or leading research projects, participating in writing publications or holding a professorship).

Additional Qualifications:

Demonstrated strong commitment to research is desired. Candidates for a tenured appointment should also evince intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential for significant contributions to the University, and wider scholarly community.

5.
