The Ministry of Oil and Gas and the National Oil Corporation participated with a high level delegation headed by the Minister of Oil and Gas Dr. Abdulabri Alarusi and Vice Chairman of NOC Mr. Mustafa Sunala in the OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE 2013 held in Houston, Texas in the United States on 6 - 9/5/2013.

The minister has received an invitation earlier by the Commercial Section, Embassy of the United States in Libya to participate in the conference and the annual exhibition.

The Libyan delegation toured wings of a number of major international companies participating in the exhibition.

The chairman of the NOC opened on Monday 05/14/2013 in Radisson Blu Hotel the events National Symposium on the mechanisms and sources of funding and investment prospects of oil and gas sector.

The symposium was attended by the chairman and members of the Energy Committee to the General National Congress, members of the Board of Directors of NOC, directors of Administration in the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Labor, directors of Banks and Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies, the Business Council, managers of Oil Companies, directors of Departments and specialists of NOC.

The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation stressed the utmost importance of the oil and gas sector; the main financier of all walks of life in Libya in the past decades and will remain so for a period of time if the government did not take real alternatives to support the national economy.

The Arabian Gulf Oil Company held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 6-7 / 5/2013 its technical meetings to discuss the proposed projects and studies of the Company as well as the status of the projects and studies in progress.

The Standing Committee of the leading providers and consumers of natural gas and alternative fuel held its fifth meeting at the headquarters of Azzawiya Oil Refining Company in the presence of the Chairman of the Committee and its members to discuss the monthly needs of the natural gas and alternative liquid fuel.

The Committee members discussed several points, problems and difficulties facing the workflow in terms of increasing encroachment of petroleum products pipelines and gas coastal line.

Attendees stressed the need that Oil Installations Protection Authority should respond to correspondences on the attendance of meetings of the Committee in order to put an end to these abuses that constitute a source of danger to the safety of the homeland and the citizen through cooperation with all stakeholders.

In conclusion, they also stressed the need to accelerate to take the necessary measures in order to urgently provide security protection to coastal gas pipeline and oil products pipelines.

A meeting was held by Sirte Local Council to discuss several topics related to activation of Sirte Maritime Por, Sirte International Airport, the Municipal Guard of Sirte and the Department of Civil Status.

The emphasis of the meeting was on accelerating the pace of disbursement of financial compensation to those who had been affected by the war of liberation and homeowners that exceed (16,000) housing.

The meeting also discussed the city's new housing projects and the Central Committee of Abroad treatment.

An expanded meeting  chaired by NOC Chairman Dr. Nuri Barwin in presence of the members of NOC Board of Directors, General Managers National oil Companies was held on Monday, 29/04/2013 to discuss the budget and a number of topics pertaining to oil and gas sector.

The participants discussed the budget which was adopted in 2013 and made comments on the most important points that have been shown.

They stressed the need to discuss the budget with the competent authorities to ensure that it meets the requirements of the work and achieve the target production.

The Minister of Oil and Gas Dr. Abdualbari Alrusi discussed on Tuesday 13/04/2013 the Regional Director for North Africa and Asia ConocoPhillip Company Ltd. the situation in Libya and the problems and obstacles that hinder the operations of the Company in Libya.

The Minister expressed his readiness to support the company and provide a helping for the Company to resume its activities.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas Mr. Omar Alshukmak participated in the forum of investment institutions, which included a number of institutional investors, Arab and foreign businessmen in the various disciplines of construction and industrial which was held in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, 03 / 04/2013.

The meeting developed a proposal to form a coordinating committee of all disciplines to communicate and develop studies, make proposals, recommendations of the activities and benefits.

The undersecretary said that this visit was positive, successful and fruitful, adding that the Ministry will invite those abroad experiences to participate in a workshop in Libya.

Omar Alshukmak is clarifying the vision of the Ministry of oil and gas in a clean and environment free from administrative and financial corruption in the field of oil and gas.

The Minister Oil and Gas Dr. Abdulbari Alarusi and the Chairman National Oil Corporation Dr. Nuri Barwin met the vice president of BP Company Mr. Dirk Porter where discussed the security situation on the oil sites obtained by the company and how they are providing full protection to those areas.

The Minister pointed out that the security situation continues to improve despite the exaggeration practices made by some news media.

From his part, Nuri Barwin stated that the Ministry will not allow foreign security presence in any form in the oil regions.

The Standing Committee of senior providers and consumers of natural gas held its fourth meeting in Benghazi on Wednesday, 03/04/2013 in Ras Lanuf in presence of delegates from the National Oil Corporation (manufacturing management, production, accounting, crude oil and natural gas) Brega petroleum Marketing, GECOL, Ras Lanuf, Sirte, Inc., Azzawiayah Oil Refining, Iron and Steel Factory, the General Company for Water Desalination, Mellitah Oil and gas.

They discussed the monthly needs of consumers for gaseous and liquid fuels and the problems related to the programming of trucks and shipments.

They also stressed the need to accelerate the provision of security protection of coastal gas pipeline and oil products pipelines u as well as work to remove the agricultural land which these lines are underneath.
