The under-secretary general Minister of Oil and Gas on, Omer Alshekmak, met Assistant Secretary of State of America for Democracy and Human Rights Wednesday, 30/5/2012. The U.S. accredited ambassador to Libya and the chairman of the NOC as well as other officials from both sides also attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the requirements the next transition phase especially with regard to providing security and protection for foreign employees of oil fields in the framework of establishing the principles of human rights.
For his part, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil and Gas made it clear to the U.S. delegation that security and safety has become better and they are in gradually improving in all fields, ports and oil sites. He added that a guard such protection is controlled by the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, Gas and NOC. And during the last period there have been no breakthroughs or a security breach or attacks on any of the users of Libyans and foreigners.
Adding to what has that achieved in terms of production rates of oil and gas and their derivatives is the best proof that the security and safety and confidence the oil fields and ports in a secure and safe, as evidence that the environment and conditions of employment dominated by clarity and transparency and safety.
He also pointed out that the ministry is ready to receive any comments or suggestions that will raise the degree of trust and safety, without any direct intervention.
